Position Overview
FirstEnergy Service Company is recruiting a Supply Chain Contract Review / Paralegal Intern for the Fall 2026 semester in Akron, Ohio. The role is a paid internship designed for students interested in paralegal work, legal studies, pre-law, contract management, procurement or corporate law.
The internship term is scheduled from August 31 through December 11, 2026. During the academic year, the selected student can work either approximately 20 hours per week or 40 hours per week depending on availability. FirstEnergy says it would ideally like to retain a successful intern for one to two years while the student completes undergraduate or graduate study.
The work sits with FirstEnergy’s Supply Chain Contract Review Team and provides practical exposure to supplier contracts, amendments, statements of work, legal documents, approvals, records and cross-functional coordination.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the listed education paths, such as:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies while pursuing a relevant bachelor’s degree
- Paralegal certificate while pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree
- Current bachelor’s enrollment in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Pre-Law or a related discipline
- Current enrollment in an accredited law-school JD program

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing supplier contracts, amendments and statements of work
- Track contract status, approvals and milestones
- Review documents for completeness, consistency and internal compliance
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Legal, Risk and business stakeholders
- Maintain contract records in company systems
- Support contract reporting, data analysis and audit activities
- Conduct legal and business research
- Prepare correspondence, summaries, presentations and project documents
