Nassau Community College is recruiting a Director of Special Programs, College Development for a full-time position in Garden City, New York. The role is based in the Office of College Development and carries a starting salary of $85,000 per year. Position Overview
The Director of Special Programs is expected to plan, organize and oversee activities within College Development while keeping the work aligned with the college’s strategic goals. Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate development work involving the Nassau Community College Foundation and Alumni Organization.
- Support fundraising activities and help expand and diversify the college’s funding base.
- Build relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations and other philanthropic partners.
- Develop strategies for annual giving, major gifts, project funding, grants, endowments, alumni giving and corporate partnerships.
- Work with the Foundation Board and college leadership on fundraising priorities.
- Coordinate college and Foundation events with departments such as Finance, Facilities, Public Safety, AV Support and the Registrar.
- Supervise assigned staff and support internal and external compliance reporting.
- Help manage the department budget, review financial data and control expenditures within approved resources.
Education and Experience
The minimum education requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field. The listing also requires at least three years of fundraising experience with a nonprofit organization.
In addition, applicants need at least two years of progressively responsible experience in administration, supervision, organizational leadership and/or directing institutional initiatives or programs. This means the college is looking for someone who has already managed responsibility beyond an individual contributor role.
